Yurash Advises UOC Press Service and Legal Department to Take a Lie Detector
The Ministry of Culture refuses to register the statutes of 12 religious organizations of the UOC during the year, because "strategic suggestions" are not considered in their drafting, and the rights of religious communities are violated, said the head of the Department for Religious and Ethnic Affairs Andrei Yurash to the UOJ journalist.
In response to the statement of the UOC representatives that the Ministry of Culture is deliberately delaying the registration of statutes of the communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yurash said, "The only thing I would advise the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods and the UOC press service and the legal service is to take a polygraph test."
At the same time, Yurash could not explain the reasons for denying registration of the statutes of the UOC communities. "The statutes under consideration – they limit the rights of a religious community, which, according to the law on freedom of conscience and religious organizations, is a self-sufficient religious association", he said. But he never said what exactly in the statutes is inconsistent with Ukrainian legislation.
