Bishop Filaret (Kucherov) Calls Lviv Authorities to Ban LGBT-Quest
Bishop of Lviv and Galich Filaret officially responded to the information on holding in Lviv the so-called "Festival of Equality" scheduled for March 19-20, the programme of which includes LGBT-quest, reports the site of the Lviv diocese of the UOC.
"We cannot and will not remain silent when sin is disseminated to corrupt the human soul and the body. Lord came to save sinners, but He did not give us the right to seek a compromise with sin. Therefore, we are opposed to holding such events in our pious region, where reside the faithful, whose beliefs and values are offended by such kind of sin advocacy", said Bishop Filaret.
The Bishop called to the conscience of the organizers of the so-called "Festival of Equality" during the Lent and the time when the sons-defenders of the Motherland are dying in Ukrainian families.
"This time of grace of the Holy Lent is given by God for our ascetic restriction, redemption and reconciliation, not for festivals and demonstrations of sin. We all talk about peace in Ukraine, but are we doing anything to achieve it?… At the time when in the East hostilities continue, here, in a peaceful area, sin spreads, " he stressed.
Bishop Filaret also called the authorities not to authorize such activities and the faithful not to participate in the protests, because during the Lent we should seek ways to achieve peace of mind and reconciliation with neighbours.
