Pope Francis fosters largest prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia

Pope Francis said that he became an intermediary in the largest – more than 300 people – exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia. He stated this during a meeting with Russian representatives of the RCC, which took place on the margins of the Forum of Religious Leaders in Kazakhstan, La Civiltà Cattolica reports.

“They brought me a list of more than 300 prisoners. They asked me to do something to make the exchange happen. I immediately called the Russian ambassador to find out if something could be done, if it was possible to speed up the exchange of prisoners,” the pontiff said.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Pope blessed the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
