UOC Synod convenes a meeting of bishops, clergy and laity

On May 12, the first meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church this year was held at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Following the results of the Synod, the UOC convenes a meeting of bishops, priests, monastics and laity to discuss the issues of church life that arise during the war. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

The Holy Synod responded to the questions of the future of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In particular, the UOC positively assessed the possibility of a thorough and comprehensive discussion of any issues of church life. However, it is fundamentally important that this process take place without violating the order established by the Church.

At the same time, the members of the Synod emphasized that the discussion should not lead to going beyond the canonical field and to new divisions in the Church of Christ.

As the UOJ wrote, a meeting of the Holy Synod began in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Before the meeting, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and members of the Synod prayed at the Divine Liturgy in the church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
