Phanar transfers Filaret's parishes in Australia to its structure

On May 9, 2022, the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, headed by Patriarch Bartholomew, confirmed the "transfer" of parishes and communities of the UOC-KP to the jurisdiction of their Australian Archdiocese, reports Romfea.gr.

According to Phanar, this also applies to other Ukrainian communities in Australia, since "The Autocephalous Church of Ukraine (OCU – Ed.) does not have canonical jurisdiction in the Diaspora, in accordance with the Tomos of the Autocephalous Church."

In addition, the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople separately noted it had never recognized Filaret Denisenko as the “Patriarch of Kyiv”, nor had the existence of the “Kyiv Patriarchate”. At the same time, the establishment of the UOC-KP Vicariate in Australia and New Zealand by the “self-proclaimed ‘Patriarch’” was called by Phanar “illegal and unacceptable, not recognized by the Orthodox Church.”

Earlier, the UOC-KP reported it had incorporated the schismatic communities of Phanar in Australia and New Zealand, headed by "archimandrite" Nektarios Alexandratos, who is considered a schismatic by Phanar. Later, the Australian Archdiocese of Phanar stated it had “annexed” all these parishes.

As reported by the UOJ, the Patriarchate of Constantinople recognized the "Macedonian Church".
