UOC hierarch addresses Primate of ROC over military actions in Ukraine

Metropolitan Onufry of Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv requested the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, to urge the Russian authorities to stop the hostilities in Ukraine, reports the Kharkiv Eparchy of the UOC on its Facebook page.

In his address, the bishop said that bombs and missiles are falling on Ukrainian towns and villages, causing the death of civilians, and many have become refugees or displaced persons. Also, churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, including those in the Kharkiv Eparchy of the UOC, are being destroyed by shelling.

According to Metropolitan Onufry, war is the wrong way to divide people on a heart and soul level.

"In order to prevent more victims and suffering of our people, we appeal to you and ask you to appeal to the President of Russia and the leadership of the Russian Federation to stop the military actions on the territory of Ukraine and do everything possible and impossible to stop the war and the bloodshed," the hierarch of the UOC wrote.

As reported, the Transfiguration Church of the UOC in Kharkiv has again suffered from shelling.
