The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije, said that the autonomy of the UOC in governance is an example of the highest oikonomia and consciousness, the official website of the Serbian Patriarchate reports.
In an interview with International Affairs edition, Patriarch Porfirije noted that the collapse of the federal states, which included Montenegro and Ukraine, led to the fact that “enemies of Christianity saw an opportunity to split the autocephalous or autonomous Churches.”
He stressed that he understands well what is happening in Ukraine and highly appreciates “the way Patriarch Alexy of blessed memory guided the ship of the Russian Church in those stormy and difficult times.”
The Primate of the Serbian Church also stressed, "Patriarch Kirill is leading it triumphantly in the third millennium."
“The broadest freedom, complete autonomy in governance, which the Russian Orthodox Church granted to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, is an example of the manifestation of the highest oikonomia and church consciousness,” summed up Patriarch Porfirije.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Porfirije is struck by the ease with which Phanar violated the canons in Ukraine.
