Serbian political expert: Phanar can apply Ukrainian scenario in Macedonia

The Patriarchate of Constantinople positions itself as a factor capable of solving problems in the entire Orthodox world, even if it is not asked to do so, Serbian political analyst Zeljko Injac said in an interview with Sputnik Srbija.

All this also applies to schisms existing in the canonical territory of the Serbian Church, “although no one from the Serbian Orthodox Church requested them (the Patriarchate of Constantinople – Ed.) for mediation. The Patriarchate of Constantinople positions itself as a very important factor in Orthodoxy, they started with that neo-papist theology, according to which the Ecumenical Patriarch is an Orthodox pope, without whom nothing is possible,” the analyst notes.

Injac believes that the "Macedonian Orthodox Church" could not have survived without external support. The Serbian Church has repeatedly tried to resolve the problem of the Macedonian schism, but due to the prevalence of anti-Serb sentiments in the West, the Macedonians are not allowed to accept Serbian initiatives. The solution was found through the mediation of other larger Orthodox Churches, Russian and Greek, but the Patriarchate of Constantinople decided to go its own way – very similar to the one that took place in the case of the OCU.

“If the Ecumenical Patriarchate recognizes the MOC, it will be on the same terms as the Ukrainian Patriarchate was recognized, and this is a kind of semi-autocephaly, complete dependence on the Ecumenical Patriarchate in every sense,” Zeljko Injac said. He noted that even some of the Ukrainian schismatics "are protesting and rejecting this story."

The actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople raise concerns also because they will not be limited to Macedonia alone and will certainly affect Montenegro, Zeljko Injac believes.

The UOJ wrote how the Phanar took the path of recognizing the Macedonian schismatics.
