The Orthodox Church of Antioch calls for a comprehensive dialogue on all controversial issues for the sake of preserving the unity of Orthodoxy. This is highlighted in a statement published on the website of the Patriarchate of Antioch following the meeting of the Holy Synod, which took place on October 8, 2021.

“The Synod Fathers considered the challenges facing Orthodoxy in the contemporary world, and stressed the importance of preserving the unity of Orthodoxy, respecting the canonical tradition of the Church, and avoiding anything that would exacerbate existing disputes, potentially transforming these disputes into larger and more consequential divisions in the one body of Christ. In this regard, they called for the opening of a comprehensive dialogue concerning all the accumulated controversial issues in order to find solutions that would allow the restoration of ecclesiastical communion within the one Orthodox family,” the Synod said in a statement.

The UOJ also wrote that the Synod of the Church of Antioch appointed a successor to the metropolitan who was abducted 8 years ago in Aleppo.

Let us remind you that earlier John X, Patriarch of Antioch and the whole East, met with a delegation of the UOC and conveyed words of support to His Beatitude Onuphry and the plentitude of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
