The bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church took part in the festive service in honour of St. Joseph of Maramureș in the Khust Eparchy of the UOC.
On September 9, on the day of commemoration of St. Joseph of Maramures the Confessor, Bishop Timothy of Satu Mare, hierarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with Bishop Simeon of Uglia in the village of Belaya Tserkov of the Khust Eparchy of the UOC, as reported on the Facebook page of the Maramureș-Satu Mare Eparchy of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The village of Belaya Tserkov in the Transcarpathian region is historically and in terms of population Romanian. There is a monastery here, whose history begins in the XIII-XIV centuries. Saint Joseph of Maramureș lived in the same monastery. In 2008, in his honour, the construction of a temple in the monastery started. Now there are six inhabitants – three monks and three novices.
The clergymen of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the UOC took part in the Liturgy. Liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel from the Romanian city of Slatina and the choir of priests who sang in Church Slavonic.
After the Divine Liturgy, a religious procession took place around the church. Bishop Timothy addressed the believers with a word. The Romanian Vladyka called on the parishioners to preserve the Orthodox faith.
In conclusion, as a token of gratitude for the joy of service and fraternal communion, Bishop Simeon presented the guest with a specially painted icon depicting St. Alexy the Confessor of Carpathian and St. Job of Uglia. Bishop Timothy presented Vladyka Simeon with a bishop's crosier.
As reported earlier, the Romanian bishop got acquainted with the history of the KDAiS and met with the rector.
