American political activist and conservative publicist Candace Owens posted on her "X" (formerly Twitter) account information about the mobilization of Archimandrite Varlaam (Didenko), the abbot of the Transfiguration Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the village of Tereblya in the Tyachiv district of the Transcarpathian region.

The clergyman was forcibly conscripted into the army at the end of August 2024.

"Good morning, Christians. Did you know that the Bolshevik Zelensky has begun drafting Priests and abbots to the front line in Ukraine? This is in addition to imprisoning bishops and shutting down churches. Zelensky is mass murdering Christians," Owens wrote.

As reported by the UOJ, a Territorial Recruitment Center took the treasurer of the Khust Diocese, the father of three underage children.

Earlier, Candace Owens criticized Western media for not paying enough attention to the persecution of Christians around the world and stated that the persecution of the Church in the USSR was a "Holocaust of Christians".
