Bulgarian religious scholar Vasiliana Merheb addressed the clergy of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church (BOC) with an urgent request to call on other local Churches to make every effort to immediately stop the destructive policies against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), as well as to appeal to the President of Bulgaria on this matter.

"Through its spiritual authority, the BOC should address Bulgarian President Rumen Radev in his capacity as an Orthodox Christian, as well as all political, non-governmental, and diplomatic organizations and structures of the national, international, and EU communities for timely assistance," said the religious scholar.

Vasiliana Merheb expressed hope that "by uniting, we can achieve everything for the benefit of the Holy Orthodox Church and that we can help our brothers in Christ – Ukrainian Orthodox hierarchs and laity."

As previously reported by the UOJ, Merheb spoke out regarding the persecution of the episcopate, clergy, and Orthodox Christians of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, particularly the persecution of UOJ journalists. The theologian called on the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to raise its voice in defense of the UOC and Orthodox ecclesiology and the canonicity of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church before the entire world.
