On the morning of September 7, a group of church raiders from the OCU entered the territory of the UOC Intercession Church in Boyarka, Kyiv region, reports KozakTv1 Telegram channel. They blocked all entrances to the church and are attempting to break the locks.
The raiders are being supported by the local Territorial Community Volunteer Formation (DFTG), and the whole process is being led by representatives of the OCU, headed by Vasyl Lilo, who is already known for participating in the seizure of the St. Michael’s Church in May 2023.
A large number of police officers are present at the scene, but the situation remains tense.
Parishioners and clergy of the UOC Intercession Church came to defend their shrine. They managed to enter the church grounds despite the raiders’ attempts to block access. During the conflict, tear gas was used against the faithful.
The widow of a soldier killed on the frontlines pleaded not to deprive the UOC believers of their church, but she was not allowed inside.
The standoff continues as Orthodox Christians try to defend their sanctuary.
As reported by the UOJ, on May 6, 2023, OCU raiders seized the UOC St. Michael’s Church in Boyarka.
