As a result of a missile attack on Kyiv on September 2, one of the capital's mosques was damaged. This was reported on social media by Said Ismagilov, the former head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Umma", and now a military serviceman. He noted that to his collection of photos of mosques destroyed by the Russians – including those in Bakhmut, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Kostiantynivka, Kharkiv, and Donetsk – images of the damaged mosque in Kyiv have now been added. "When some Muslims start telling me that this is not their war (a message actively promoted by Russian propaganda), I show them photos of the destroyed mosques of Ukraine," he wrote.
The President of Ukraine also commented on the incident, posting a photo of the Islamic Cultural Center in one of the affected mosques in Kyiv on social media platform X. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the Kremlin "disregards spiritual and human values, and respects no religion or faith".
As reported by the UOJ, the first veteran space for Muslims in Ukraine will open in Kyiv.
