Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk signed Bill No. 8371, which effectively bans the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), and sent it to the president for approval. He reported this in a comment to "Ukrainska Pravda" on August 23, 2024.

"This week, the Verkhovna Rada voted on several important bills for the country. They have already been signed by me today and sent to the president for his signature. In particular, this includes document No. 8371, which concerns ensuring the constitutional order in the field of religious relations, popularly referred to as the ban on the influence of the Russian Church on Ukraine," he stated.

The Speaker is convinced that President Volodymyr Zelensky will sign this document among others in the near future.

As the UOJ reported, an expert commented on the ban of the UOC: "Those who did this have already lost."
