Head of DECR MP and Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem meet in Amman

On August 5, 2021, the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (DECR MP) Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk met with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, reports the DECR MP press service.

The meeting took place in Amman, the capital of Jordan.

“The DECR Chairman conveyed warm greetings from the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church to His Beatitude. The conversation touched upon a number of topics of mutual interest, including the situation in the world in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and related anti-epidemic restrictions affecting the usual course of church life,” says the message of the DECR MP.

The meeting was also attended by Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.

As reported earlier, the ROC hopes for a meeting in the "Amman format" after the restrictions are lifted.
