ROC comments on Phanar hierarch's demand for UOC to “put your mouth down”

It is good that at least the Patriarchate of Constantinople, whose hierarch demanded that the bishops of the UOC “put down their mouths”, does not order the Russian Orthodox Church to wear a sign “Phanar-made” instead of a cross, Vladimir Legoyda, Head of the Synodal Department of the ROC for Church Relations with Society and the Media, wrote in his tg-channel.

Legoyda responded to the words of the Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi, who demanded that the bishops of the UOC "put your hands and mouth down from the Successor of those who made you Christians."

“The theological interpretation of the phrase ‘made you Christians’ in the English translation should remain on the conscience of this hierarch,” wrote the spokesman of the Russian Orthodox Church. “However, the self-perception of Phanar as a kind of factory, which, presumably, received a certain ‘patent for the production’ of Christians is very typical."

Phanar perceives the UOC as its own product, which can be transferred to the category of “faulty” by an unsolicited stroke of the pen, Legoyda noted, obviously referring to the Tomos.

“Well, now, the ‘manufacturer’ offers his ‘products’, which by an unsolicited stroke of the pen were transferred to the category of faulty ones, ‘sit seriously in positions of humiliation and apprenticeship’”.

At least we, the children of the Russian Orthodox Church, are not ordered to wear a “Phanar-made” sign instead of a cross around our necks,” the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church sneers.

As the UOJ reported, the UOC Chancellor said that there would be no representatives of the UOC at the events with the head of Phanar.
