The spokesman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, commented for the UOJ on the words of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about the poor organization of the Cross Procession, which took place in Kyiv on July 27, 2021, and the pilgrims who spent the night on the street.
According to the clergyman, it’s not the first time that the presidential aides and advisers have not informed him correctly and adequately.
“Firstly, all the pilgrims who came to Kyiv were hosted by the capital's parishes: they were fed and accommodated for the night. Secondly, there were some of the pilgrims who immediately left. As far as I know, no one spent the night on the street in the Lavra, buses carried people to temples,” Father Nikolai explained.
He expressed the wish that the advisers of Vladimir Zelensky on the religious issues inform him in a timely and adequate manner. If the President does not have such assistants, the Church is ready to offer him its services.
“No problem, we can inform the President directly. Let him give contacts, and we will send relevant information. Because this is absolutely untrue, and when the Head of State says it – well, it is simply regrettable,” summed up the UOC spokesman.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that at the Ukraine 30 forum, Vladimir Zelensky said that the Great Cross Procession of the UOC was poorly organized, and 55,000 believers took part in it.
