On the eve of the Day of the Baptism of Rus, the Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, spoke about the number of parishes, bishops and monasteries of the UOC, newsoneua.tv reports.

“If we talk about numbers, then the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is: bishops – 110, dioceses – 53, clergy - 12,456, communities – 12,374, monks – 4,548, monasteries – 255. Corresponding changes and final indicators for 2021 will be summarized in my report by the end of this year,” noted the Chancellor of the UOC.

Metropolitan Anthony added that despite the numerous cases of church raiding and harassment by supporters of the OCU, the UOC communities remain faithful to Orthodoxy and build new churches.

“It is notably gratifying that temples are gradually being built for those communities that have suffered from raider attacks by supporters of the OCU. The latest example is the consecration of a church on July 24 in the village of Buscha, Rivne region, which was built instead of a church that was seized in 2019 with the use of force and breaking locks,” said the UOC Chancellor.

As the UOJ previously reported, the UOC awarded the priest who was beaten by radicals during the cross procession in Nizhyn.
