The head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP American defender of the UOC Robert Amsterdam called bill 8371, which the Rada intends to pass, a "thinly veiled religious cleansing law". He wrote about it in his X.

He recalled that the bill on the actual ban of the UOC has already been rejected by the legal Committee of the Verkhovna Rada. American lawyer of the UOC believes that Washington rightly supports the ability of Ukraine to defend itself from Russian aggression. But, in his view, at some point certain actors close to the government discovered that they could engage in arbitration with impunity – seizing property, attacking opponents and taking hostages.

Amsterdam underscored that the passage of Bill 8371, as well as the false arrests and imprisonment of UOC faithful "have absolutely nothing to do with protecting Ukraine from Russian influence. It is instead the most brazen violation of international law taking place today."

The human rights activist added that these Putin-style abuses must stop now, and the MPs and corrupt SBU officials must be held accountable.

As reported by the UOJ, politician Ihor Mosiychuk said that the office of the Prosecutor General is preparing on the application of the head of the Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk to initiate criminal proceedings against the American human rights activist of the UOC Robert Amsterdam.
