In March, representatives of the National Reserve "Ancient Chernihiv", along with people in military uniform, closed the Chernihiv Holy Trinity Complex, sealing the entrance and buildings on its territory. In a comment to a local publication, the general director of the national reserve, Natalia Rebrova, said that officials are currently "crystallizing" their plans regarding the shrine.
"Plans are currently crystallizing. As of today, the staff of the 'Ancient Chernihiv' reserve is overseeing the relics located in the Trinity Cathedral. The monastery complex is under guard, and deratization has been carried out in the buildings of the complex. Maintenance work is ongoing," said Rebrova.
The Trinity Monastery houses the relics of the Chernihiv saints Theodosios and Philaret, as well as the Venerable Lavrenty of Chernihiv. Speaking about the condition of the holy relics, the reserve's general director described it as "good, stable, unchanged".
As reported by the UOJ, visitors are now allowed into the Transfiguration Cathedral in Chernihiv for a fee.
