After receiving the Tomos from the Patriarch of Constantinople, representatives of the newly formed OCU, former members of the UOC-KP, organized persecutions against those who did not want to leave this structure. This is said in a statement published on the Kyiv Patriarchate's website.

The document is timed to the 5th anniversary of the "Local Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate," during which, as claimed, the KP retained its independence from Constantinople.

"In these five years, the Kyiv Patriarchate has gone through many trials – illegal removal from state registration, property raids, information blockades, harassment and lies, its supporters were intimidated, fired from jobs, expelled from studies…," the statement reads.

The press service adds that a whole campaign of discrediting its leader was launched by the "enemies of the independent Ukrainian Church".

"Most sadly, this dirty work was organized and implemented by representatives of the OCU, former members of the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate. From the very beginning, they decided to fight not with Moscow, but with the Kyiv Patriarchate," said the structure headed by Filaret Denisenko.

As the UOJ wrote, the head of the UOC-KP, 'Patriarch' Filaret Denisenko, stated that those he had nurtured betrayed him and spat in his face.
