Novinsky: Many persecutors of UOC forgot in which Church they were baptised

Former MP and protodeacon of the UOC, Vadim Novinsky, commented on his FB page on the searches and the serving of suspicion to Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia, noting that they took place on Holy Wednesday.

According to him, the authorities continue their policy directed against the UOC. "It is noteworthy that the searches and the serving of suspicion to Bishop Luke took place on Holy Wednesday – a day that reminds us of the betrayal of Christ by the money-loving Judas. Those who gave the orders and those who carried them out chose a symbolic day for their actions," Novinsky wrote.

He emphasized that "many have too quickly forgotten in which Church they received the sacrament of Baptism and cowardly renounced it; now they are persecuting their brothers and sisters – equally full-fledged citizens of Ukraine who turned out to be more honest before their conscience and firm in faith."

The former MP expressed confidence that "the time to answer for what has been done will come".

"Everyone who commits a crime has a name and surname – sooner or later, everyone will be remembered. And this is not empty words; both secular and church history confirms this. There is a much more important – a spiritual side to such actions. No one will be able to escape the retribution from the Righteous Judge – our Lord," the message says.

He also wished Bishop Luke strength of spirit and firmness in faith.

"We pray to the Lord that truth and justice prevail," said Vadim Novinsky.

As reported, V. Novinsky commented on the arrest of Bishop Arseny before Easter: the authorities’ cynicism is glaring.
