In the Holy Land, we prayed that peace would reign in our God-loving Ukraine, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said at a briefing upon arrival from Jerusalem, according to the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

“With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the delegation of the UOC visited the Holy Land and received the Holy Fire from the hands of His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos,” the Metropolitan said. “We brought it to Kyiv for the whole of Ukraine and from here it will go to all dioceses of the UOC and into churches, monasteries, houses of believers.”

He noted that the Holy Fire is a harbinger of the Easter of Christ, the greatest event being the pillar of the Orthodox faith and the meaning of every person's life.

Congratulating everyone on the upcoming holiday, the UOC Chancellor wished that the Easter of Christ would instill faith, love, peace, prosperity, patience in souls.

“We prayed in the Holy Land that peace would reign in our God-loving Ukraine and that we would develop as a state that has wonderful people, a beautiful land and everything necessary for human happiness.

The Orthodox faith has always been at the heart of the development of Ukrainian civilization. This is the faith that the holy noble Prince Vladimir brought to our land, and the faith that has built and, I hope, will build our future. Happy Easter!" summed up the Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary Anthony.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the delegation of the UOC had delivered the Holy Fire to Ukraine from the church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
