President Volodymyr Zelensky participated in an iftar – a dinner held during the sacred month of Ramadan for Muslims, and awarded Ukrainian soldiers who practice Islam. This was reported by the official website of the President.

Such an event was held for the first time last year on the territory of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea and was institutionalized at the state level.

Zelensky stated that the tradition of celebrating the holy Ramadan together, involving political leadership, military command, representatives of the Ukrainian Muslim community, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the diplomatic corps, is important for unity.

"Unity is always important, especially when life is overshadowed by war and the strikes of evil," the President emphasized.

He awarded Ukrainian Muslim servicemen fighting in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He also mentioned the people in Syria, Gaza, Libya, Sudan, who suffer from warfare. Zelensky wished them peace and said, "May this time of Ramadan support all of us – our people and our country."

As the UOJ reported, Poturaev suggested sending a delegation to the US to lobby for the ban on the UOC.
