Mission of Romanian Church in Moldova reports of aid to Ukrainian refugees

A Moldovan charity organisation from the Romanian Patriarchate has published information about the assistance provided in 2023.

According to data published on social media, Diaconia Social Mission participated in the distribution of financial assistance from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). 50,000 refugees received this assistance.

Also, through the St. Anne Multifunctional Centre for Child and Family, Diaconia Social Mission provided the following forms of assistance, in its majority for refugees:

The organisation also provided long-term housing for nine refugee mothers and their children (18 people), and four refugee children attended the Gâgâlici Early Education Centre.

Diaconia Social Mission is a charitable organisation of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia, a member of the Federation of Charities, the only federated non-governmental organisation in the Romanian Patriarchate.

As earlier reported, St. Nicholas’s Church was transferred to the Romanian Patriarchate in Chisinau.
