Mykyta Poturaev, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, said in a comment to "Glavkom" that if the future law banning the UOC is "filled with contradictory norms" during the second reading, then as a result, the European Commission may force the already adopted law to be completely repealed.

This could happen if Ukraine joins the EU. In such a scenario, Ukrainian laws will be scrutinized by the European Commission for compliance with European standards.

"And then the current situation with the UOC MP will be legalized forever," Poturaev said, emphasizing that "freedom of conscience for Europe is a fundamental freedom – it is even placed above the rights of national minorities".

At the same time, according to the publication, "Zelensky gave another instruction to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada not to delay the final decision on the church issue."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Drabinko's opinion, if the UOC is banned, the judicial system of Ukraine will collapse.
