Police open proceedings over beating Metropolitan Longin

In the Chernivtsi region, the police have opened proceedings on the fact of beating Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny. Head of the Chernivtsi Region Police Communication Department Karolina Marysheva told Ukrainian News.

"On the public statements of Mykhailo Zhar, information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations on the legal qualification of Article 125 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional light bodily harm," Marysheva said.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings, some investigative actions to establish all the circumstances and the final legal qualification of the incident will be carried out.

Metropolitan Longin himself did not file any statements to the police.

As reported, on 22 January 2024, an unknown person attacked Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny, hitting the bishop in the face. From the blow, he lost consciousness. Later he underwent surgery on his eyelids.
