Zelensky invites Biden to visit Ukraine on Independence Day

On April 2, 2021, the first telephone conversation between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States took place, during which Vladimir Zelensky invited Joe Biden to visit Ukraine on Independence Day, as well as to take part in the first summit of the Crimean Platform, which is scheduled for August 23, 2021, reports the press service of the President's Office.

US President Joe Biden noted that he is looking forward to his visit to Ukraine.

Also, the Presidents of the two countries discussed the development of democracy in Ukraine and the United States, the situation in the Donbass and the Crimea, and specific steps to bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership.

Earlier Zelensky invited the heads of the Phanar and the RCC to the celebration of the anniversary of Independence. Patriarch Bartholomew confirmed his arrival in Ukraine, the reaction of Pope Francis is currently unknown.

As reported, Zelensky returned to Poroshenko's position on the UOC under US pressure.
