On January 18, 2024, the Kyiv City Council plans to consider a project put forward by the deputy from the "Holos" faction, Vadim Vasilchuk, regarding the "features of liberating occupied and built-up land plots of communal property in Kyiv" by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This information is derived from the agenda of the session published on the website of the Kyiv City Council.
The document also mentions that during the Kyiv City Council session, deputies intend to listen to a report from the project's author, Vasilchuk.
According to the submitted project, the Department of Land Resources of the Kyiv City State Administration, together with district state administrations, should conduct an examination of 74 land plots that are in use by the UOC and determine the legality of the construction of temples on them.
If the commission determines that the temples lack the necessary documents, they will be demolished "at the expense of persons who allowed unauthorized placement or construction."
As reported by the UOJ, the Kyiv City Council is considering a project to demolish 74 UOC temples.
