After it became known about the brutal beating of the elderly defender of St. Michael's church in Zadubrivka, which took place on the night of March 13, hundreds of Orthodox believers of the UOC expressed their sympathy in social networks and called Vasily Khashchiyuk a 21st century martyr for the faith of Christ.

Users Tatyana Petrova, Vasily Ts'olka, Oleg Pasechnik and Natka Natka in their comments called Vasily Khashchiyuk a martyr and confessor of the 21st century, who was severely injured by schismatics, and also wished admonition to the lost.

Abbess Seraphima Shevchik, the abbess of the Holy Archangel Michael Convent in Odessa, wonders in her commentary who sets the hearts of children against their parents and incites discord in Ukraine.

User Anna Kravchuk-Redko wrote that schismatics do not have God in their hearts. She wished Vasily Khashchiyuk recovery, and all the believers of the UOC – fortitude and stamina.

Inna Mashinskaya said that the supporters of the OCU think that they are right, but with their own hands they provide crowns in heaven to people like Vasily Khashchiyuk and asked God for strength to forgive the offenders.

Elena Griadunova expressed her deep gratitude to all parishioners of the church in the village of Zadubrivka, who suffered for the Truth, but did not get scared and did not retreat.

“For all of us, believing Orthodox Christians, you are an example of how to withstand and defend the True Faith of Christ, the temples of the canonical UOC in this difficult time! May the Lord save you,” Elena wrote.

According to Vyacheslav Onishchenko, (the attackers - Ed.) should be prosecuted and punished with imprisonment for a term prescribed in the Criminal Code for robbery and infliction of grievous bodily harm.

As the UOJ previously reported, supporters of the OCU severely beat an elderly parishioner of the UOC church in Zadubrivka.
