Metropolitan Chrysostomos of the Greek Orthodox Church stated that those who kill children in wars and abortions today, as well as those who enact laws against children and encourage the adoption of children by same-sex couples, are modern-day Herods.
In his sermon, Metropolitan Chrysostomos spoke about Herod, who, after the birth of Jesus Christ, killed thousands of children in a mad desire to destroy the incarnate Lord.
According to him, modern Herods can be called those who do not allow children to be born and kill them before they see the light; those who kill children during war, and finally, those who are ready to enact laws against children and encourage the adoption of children by same-sex couples.
He stressed that 'the Church defends the rights of people and, as happens with every reasonable person, the rights of children and resists, as it has a duty, to the alienation of morals and the trivialization of the human person.'
As earlier reported, the Synod of the Greek Church spoke out against the legalization of single-sex marriages.
