On 7 December 2023, Volodymyr Zelensky together with the Jewish clergy took part in the ceremony of lighting Hanukkah candles on the menorah, the President's website reports.
The ceremony was held in the Presidential Office in honour of the beginning of Hanukkah celebrations. Rabbis from all over Ukraine came to Zelensky. According to the President, the Hanukkah lights "once again remind us of the light that always overcomes evil and darkness, of the value of life, which should be fought for."
"We appreciate the contribution of Jewish society to the development of the Ukrainian state, which today in a courageous struggle asserts its right to independence and democracy," the President said.
As reported, Zelensky hosted rabbis from all over Ukraine.
