The Patriarchate of Constantinople congratulated the new US President Joseph Biden on his inauguration and welcomed the first decisions that were made by Biden immediately after his inauguration – the lifting of the ban on entry to the United States for citizens of 13 Muslim-majority countries and the return of the United States to the Paris Climate Agreement, reports the American website Orthodoxtimes.com.
It is recalled that the head of the Phanar is known for his close contacts with the Islamic world and has held about 15 joint conferences over the past decades.
“ In the context of this interfaith dialogue, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in the 30 years of his patriarchal ministry, has officially visited many Muslim countries, such as Iran, Bahrain, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, etc., and has developed friendly relations and maintained constant communication with religious leaders of Islam and scholars. At the same time, he has convened summits with representatives of the three monotheistic religions in Constantinople, in Brussels, etc. The Bosphorus Declarations (1994, 2005) and the Brussels Declarations (2001) are, after all, internationally known,” writes the resource close to the Phanar.
The message also emphasizes that Patriarch Bartholomew expressed disagreement with Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. Patriarch Bartholomew is considered a “green patriarch” for his contribution to the protection of the environment.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Turkish historian stated about the danger of the actions of the pro-American Phanar.
