Joe Biden promised to continue cooperation with Patriarch Bartholomew and said that “we need your leadership,” Romfea reports.
Biden sent a response letter to Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, in which he expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory letter sent to him by the head of Phanar following the election for the presidency of the United States.
In the letter, Biden regrets that he was unable to contact Patriarch Bartholomew by phone and said that he was "honored" to be elected the next president of the United States, and that he understands "how much work lies ahead of us."
“Vice President-elect Harris and I will take on challenges at a time of serious global challenges – from coronavirus to climate change – that transcend borders and require international cooperation. We look forward to working with you during this difficult time,” wrote Biden.
He also said that he was looking forward to a future dialogue with the head of Phanar, and in the postscript he made his own handwritten note: “Be healthy. We need your guidance."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Bartholomew sent a "warm congratulatory letter" to Joe Biden, who "gives everyone hope for a better world."
