Metropolitan Nikiforos of Kykkos said that the last statements of the Primate of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos, cause "only bitterness and indignation", as he deliberately distorts the facts and abuses the truth, reports the edition "Romfea".

Metropolitan Nikiforos stated that the statements of Archbishop Chrysostomos regarding the elections to the post of Primate of the Church of Cyprus in 2006 do not correspond to reality, which will be presented "objectively and on the basis of unshakable evidence of the archbishopric elections of 2006, in a relevant book, which we will publish soon".

At the same time, Metropolitan Nikiforos stated: “In what the Archbishop states about the then archbishopric elections, we have to observe that the way in which he behaves, as well as the content of his statements, erode and bring down the sidewalk, the institution and the role of the Archbishop within the Church, but also, consequently, are directed against his very face."

“Unfortunately, this behaviour of the Archbishop is not recent and, we regret to note, that, despite his age and the adventure of his health, in this matter he remains stubbornly incurable,” wrote Metropolitan Nikiforos.

He stressed that the last interview of Archbishop Chrysostomos "causes indignation because it is full of inaccuracies, deliberate falsifications of facts and, unfortunately, severe abuse of the truth".

“Finally, we are sorry to note that the Archbishop's highly abusive statements come to negatively, if not corrosively, mark the spirit of the great Feasts of Christmas, New Year and Epiphany, and to cause unrest and scandal among our people. We, the high priests, should be a source of rest for our people and, above all, in these difficult days, due to the pandemic of the coronavirus, we should offer them peace and trust in God," Metropolitan Nikiforos emphasized.

He reminded Archbishop Chrysostomos that a Christian must humble himself, "to make a profound self-criticism and to seek the love of his brothers, but also the mercy of God, instead of making inflammatory and abusive interviews and statements".

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Archbishop Chrysostomos criticized the hierarchs who did not recognize the OCU and accused them of “not forgetting” their defeat in the elections of the Primate of the Church of Cyprus in 2006.
