In 2019, the State Property Fund sold for UAH 30,000 the Trinity Church of the XVI century in the village of Maheriv, Lviv region, but later the sold object was assigned the status of an architectural monument, reports zaxid.net.

The owner of the church, a businessman from Dnipro, filed a lawsuit in court. On 27 June, the Lviv Administrative Court refused to satisfy the claim for cancellation of the status of the monument. On 10 October, this decision was confirmed by the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal.

Maheriv residents are outraged by the amount for which the temple was sold. They say that the community was not informed about the auction, and for such money they could have bought it themselves.

The Holy Trinity Church in Maheriv was built in 1595. In 1845, the church was completely rebuilt and consecrated. During the First World War, the church was damaged, but in 1935 it was restored and re-consecrated. After the accession of Western Ukraine to the USSR, the church fell into disrepair again. Later it housed a Christmas tree toy factory, and then a branch of the Lviv Polaron factory, which produced parts for tanks.

As earlier reported, Lviv authorities demolished the last UOC church with an excavator.
