Fr. Alexander Klimenko: Nation’s survival is a matter of faith and feat

The survival and future of the Ukrainian nation is already a matter exclusively of faith and feat, said Fr. Alexander Klimenko, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, at a meeting with Zaporizhzhia believers, which took place within the framework of the All-Ukrainian charitable educational marathon “Save the Family – Save the People”. A video about the event was made by the "1Kozak" channel.

At the invitation of Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol, Father Alexander visited Zaporizhzhia on December 19, 2020, on the day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The priest took part in the opening of the Bishops' Christmas tree near the Church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duchess Olga and together with Metropolitan Luke visited the “Nadezhda” (Hope) orphanage.

The meeting with the Orthodox residents of Zaporizhzhia, which became the fifth for Archpriest Alexander Klimenko in the framework of the All-Ukrainian charity marathon, took place in the conference hall of the Intercession Bishop's Cathedral. It was attended by representatives of the clergy, parishioners of the cathedral and churches of the eparchy, as well as townspeople concerned.

Also, the meeting was attended by a representative of the Kyiv Brotherhood of St. Prince Vladimir Alexander Deynega – thanks to the efforts of this organization, founded with the blessing of the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine in 2015, the All-Ukrainian marathon "Save the Family – Save the People" became a reality.

The topic of the conversation was traditionally family values and the problem of the disappearance of the Ukrainian nation, faith and culture.

According to Father Alexander, the extremely low birth rate in Ukraine indicates that there is no chance that Ukrainians will again become 40-50 million, as it has been quite recently, “alas, no”.

“Statistics and mathematical models say there is no chance. To change this is already an exclusively matter of faith and feat. Are we and our children, whom we are raising, able to love a large family, to love education itself and to love the hard work associated with children?" noted, in particular, the priest.

According to the participants of the meeting, in order to change this, it is necessary to popularize successful, beautiful, Christian families and share the positive experience of large families.

As reported, the St Prince Vladimir Brotherhood, together with Archpriest Alexander Klimenko, organized a marathon in the cities of Ukraine "Save the Family – Save the People". As part of the marathon, the priest conducts concerts and meetings with believers, the main theme of which is family values.
