On October 17, 2023, the Israeli army launched an airstrike on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip, reports CNN.

Aljazeera states that the number of casualties could be between 200 to 300 people, with many still trapped under the rubble. Al-Jazeera claims that "at least 500 people were injured as a result of the explosion in the hospital. They also struck a UN-managed school where refugees are sheltered."

AP News reports that if the information about the scale of the tragedy is confirmed, "this attack will become the deadliest Israeli airstrike in the five wars conducted since 2008".

As earlier reported, Israel struck two mosques in the Gaza Strip.
