Lotysh gives Serbian President’s wife a tour of Lavra
Avraamiy Lotysh, along with the First Lady of Serbia, prayed at the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
On September 7, 2023, Tamara Vučić, the wife of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, visited the Upper Lavra, reports the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra".
According to the Reserve, "the event took place as part of Mrs. Tamara's visit to Ukraine to participate in the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen."
Accompanied by a representative of the OCU, the “acting abbot” of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Avraamiy Lotysh, Tamara Vučić visited an exhibition dedicated to the churches destroyed as a result of the war, the Dormition Cathedral and climbed the Great Lavra Bell Tower.
Together with Lotysh, Mrs Vučić also lit candles in the Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra, which the authorities took away from the UOC.
As reported, the Serbian Orthodox Church recognizes only the UOC as the canonical Church in Ukraine.
Furthermore, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije called on all Churches to condemn the persecution against the UOC, and later, he condemned the state terror against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
