Acting General Director of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" Maksym Ostapenko believes that the further order of monastic life in the monastery should be established by state bodies, in particular the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience. He made this statement this in a comment to tsn.ua.

“I think the state should decide on a mechanism for how to continue monastic life in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” the official said. “This will be a new format of agreement with the community of monks. The procedure for the use of state facilities is determined by the State Property Fund. The format of interaction with this church community, among other things, should be determined by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.”

As the UOJ reported, Maksym Ostapenko said earlier that he expects to employ part of the residents of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the state reserve, so that they look after the relics of the saints and caves.
