President awards UOC metropolitan with Order of Merit

The President awarded Metropolitan Feodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod with the Order of Merit, II Degree, reports the press service of the eparchy.

On September 25, 2020, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, as part of a visit to Transcarpathia, visited the St. Nicholas Church located at the Uzhhorod airport. Here he presented Metropolitan Feodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod with a state award – the Order of Merit, II degree.

During the meeting, Vladyka told the President about the history and life of the Mukachevo Eparchy of the UOC and also thanked him for the honour of wearing a high state decoration.

Metropolitan Feodor was awarded the order for the Day of Independence of Ukraine. The decree announcing the award was published on the website of the President of Ukraine. The document says that such awards were given to a number of Ukrainians for "significant personal contribution to state-building, socio-economic, scientific and technical, cultural and educational development of Ukraine, significant labour achievements and high professionalism".

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a volunteer priest of the UOC was awarded the medal of the President of Ukraine.
