Early in the morning on July 6, 2023, representatives of the reserve, under police cover, broke down the doors to the 70th building of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and got inside. Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the lawyer of the Lavra, announced this on his telegram channel.
“Representatives of the Reserve, accompanied by the police, without any legal grounds, broke the locks and entered Building 70,” the lawyer wrote.
The 70th building is the residence in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
As of 8:00, the police also cordoned off the 69th building. There is reason to believe that doors will also be broken there.
Let us remind you that legal proceedings are ongoing around the premises of the Lower Lavra, without the completion of which the Ministry of Culture has no right to take them under control. The brethren are still in the monastery.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the MP commented on the Ministry of Culture's attempt to seal the buildings of the Lavra.
