Ministry of Culture to digitize 15,000 objects of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

The American company Digital Transitions will provide the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine with equipment for digitizing objects and various documents held by the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, reports the Ministry of Culture's press service.

The ministry noted that they plan to digitize 15,000 objects of the Reserve, including flat paintings, icons from the Lavra icon-painting workshop, carved wooden clichés, engravings, and plans and drawings dating back to the 17th-19th centuries.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture Anastasiya Bondar, the results of the Lavra digitization project will be presented at a special event:

"We must use digitization as a means of preserving our heritage, as well as expanding its accessibility and popularization in the world. I am grateful to our partners at Digital Transitions for providing the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra with the opportunity to preserve, develop, and embrace digital technologies," she says. "I express sincere gratitude to all the employees of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra who continue their work and implement such a significant project, the results of which, I hope, we will soon be able to see at a special event."

As reported, the Minister of Culture, Oleksandr Tkachenko, stated that he has imbued the Lavra with the Ukrainian meaning laid down by its creators.
