On June 7, 2023, the day after the release of Diablo IV, massive smog from forest fires hit New York City. The game's promotional banners reading "Welcome to Hell, New York" look so organic that the game's makers have claimed they had nothing to do with the fires.

"I would like to clarify that Blizzard has no affiliation or partnership with the wildfires in Canada. In fact, we are firmly against wildfires and condemn them in the strongest terms," Blizzard Vice-President Lulu Cheng Meservey said in a tweet.

As earlier reported, in New Zealand, pizzeria customers are offered a "buy-now-pay-much-later" service.
