As of May 2023, 29 million people live in Ukraine," the Ukrainian Institute of the Future said on its Facebook page.

According to the Institute, Ukraine has a dismal demographic and economic situation. Since the Russian invasion, 8.6 million Ukrainians have left the country. No more than 9.5 million are working, and excluding state employees, about 6-7 million.

According to analysts, "the fertility rate has already fallen below 1, while for the population to grow it must exceed 2”. If nothing changes, already in the next few years the number of pensioners will be double that of working people.

"This is why the demographic issue should be voiced by the President of Ukraine as a priority for today and in need of urgent measures," the researchers stressed.

"The Ukrainian Institute for the Future is a public organisation established in 2016. Among its founders are MPs Anton Herashchenko and Oleksiy Skrypnyk. The supervisory board consists of politicians from the USA, the UK and Germany.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the Institute of Demography, Ukraine is on the verge of changing the ethnic composition of the nation.
