Shevchuk assures Premier that UGCC fights COVID-19

On August 19, 2020, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, the UGCC website reports.

The meeting was devoted to the issues of cooperation between the UGCC and the government in the fight against the spread of coronavirus.

As noted, Shevchuk thanked the prime minister for constant communication and partnership with state institutions and assured him that the UGCC would continue to support government initiatives.

The head of the UGCC also informed the Prime Minister that Andrey Sheptytsky once organized actions to raise awareness of believers and tell them about the basics of personal hygiene.

As the UOJ reported, earlier a monastery in the Lviv region, owned by the UGCC, was quarantined due to coronavirus among the monks.
