Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State of the Vatican, told reporters that he was surprised by the words of some state agents of Ukraine and Russia that they have no idea about the "peace mission" of the Pope, according to ansa.it.

“The peace mission will take place. I am surprised that Kyiv and Moscow said they did not know about this,” Parolin said.

Recall that a few days ago, Pope Francis announced that the Vatican is involved in a "secret peace mission." Later, an official close to the Office of the President of Ukraine said that Volodymyr Zelensky did not give consent to peace talks with the participation of the pope, and if they are to happen, then this will happen without the knowledge of the Ukrainian leadership. On May 3, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov noted that it was "difficult for him to say what kind of initiative is meant."

According to CNN, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin also knows nothing about the Vatican’s "peace mission".
