Priests and believers of the Khmelnytsky eparchy told the UN Monitoring Mission about more than 30 cases of violation of their rights, the diocesan press service reports on Facebook. Communication with UN staff took place over two days, May 2–3, 2023.
The meeting was attended by "clergymen and believers who have recently personally suffered from offenses during the seizure of the churches of the Khmelnytsky eparchy. In particular, they were subjected to physical violence and threats." The events described by believers were accompanied by the inaction of local authorities.
The eparchy claims that "the recorded violations will be processed and may be reflected in the UN human rights reports on Ukraine's compliance with international legal acts on the protection of human rights."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that UN representatives met with the community of the captured cathedral in Khmelnytsky.
