Hierarch of the UOC, Metropolitan Theodosy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, who is under house arrest, addressed the clergy, monks and laity of his eparchy.

"The Holy Week, which has become a special week for me and for you, is behind. But despite the fact that we are separated by space and the impossibility for me to conduct services in the cathedral, spiritually we continue to be united," the Metropolitan said.

Vladyka also said that being under house arrest, he is able to celebrate daily Divine Liturgy and administer the eparchy: he signs decrees and orders once a week and more often if circumstances require it. By telephone, the head of the eparchy communicates with the deans, the secretary and the vicars who perform services, award the clergy and deliver sermons.

"The eparchy lives and continues to live, repel small provocations which occur everywhere in Ukraine from the enemies of our Church," says the hierarch.

However, Bishop Theodosy noted that it cannot be said that nothing has changed with his imprisonment.

"My spiritual life has changed. I have had more time for solitary prayer and reflection on our Church, our people, the path we have taken over the past few decades since the beginning of the revival of spiritual life, after the millennium of Baptism of Rus," said the hierarch.

Bishop Theodosy promised to share these thoughts with his flock regularly in a video format.

Metropolitan Theodosy of Cherkasy and Kaniv has been under house arrest since 12 April 2023.
